OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a man who came to Ocean City with three other co-workers to do construction work. Police believe Eduardo Masoller, 52, drove to Ocean City from Virginia Monday afternoon and has not been seen since Monday night.

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) has announced that the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) basketball double-header against Coppin State University, that was postponed on Saturday, January 22, 2005 due to wintry conditions, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.

The women's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men's game will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Salisbury, MD – Economists on the Lower Shore are generally upbeat about business on the Lower Shore for the coming year. Panelists offered their opinions yesterday at the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce gathering. Organizer Memo Diriker predicts the local economy will be brighter than the national picture later this year. And he says one sign of strength is the continued growth of the Route 13 shopping corridor North of Salisbury.

Annapolis, MD – Today's the day officials from Maryland's public schools make their annual pilgrimage to Annapolis to ask for money for school construction and renovations. They'll make their case to the Board of Public Works at a meeting that has come to be called the "beg-a-thon." So far, the state has received requests totaling more than 590 million dollars.

Dover, DE – A Delaware state panel has toned down its proposal to boost the salaries of Governor Minner and other state officials. Members of the Delaware Compensation Commission agreed yesterday to limit proposed raises to no more than 20 percent of official's current pay. That limitation is already spelled out in state law. The move followed public outcry about the commission's initial recommendations of huge raises for Minner, Lieutenant Governor John Carney and others. Carney's salary is now expected to increase about 13 percent, from $64,900 to about $73,000.

Annapolis, MD – Despite pleas from doctors and hospitals, Governor Ehrlich says he'll veto the medical malpractice insurance reform bill. The Republican governor says the reforms contained within the bill are next to nothing. Ehrlich pointed to a study conducted for the administration that hasn't been made public. He says for most doctors, the bill would only reduce premiums by two-point-five percent the first year. But he couldn't say how much the savings would be in future years.

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Authorities in Delaware say three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash near Newark.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened Wednesday afternoon on State Route 1. State Police say traffic slowed suddenly because of debris in the roadway but the driver of a Dodge Ram was unable to stop and struck the rear of a BMW. A driver traveling behind the Dodge Ram then struck the Dodge Ram, causing it to flip over.

UMES announces scholarship fund pledge by Delaware couple

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -– The Bennie and Shirley Smith Endowed Scholarship Fund is being created at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to provide need-based scholarships to deserving students.

The pledge by the owners and operators of Bennie Smith Funeral Home Inc. is the most recent in a series philanthropic gestures the couple and their business have made over the past two decades in support of university projects and students.
