ANNAPOLIS, MD (AP) – The defense has rested and the jury has been dismissed in the trial of a 19-year-old Anne Arundel County man charged with manslaughter in the death of another teen during a fight at a house party last summer.
On Wednesday, the defense attacked the testimony of a state witness who said he saw the defendant, Jacob Fortney run and jump on the head of 17-year-old victim Jamahl Jones.
Co-defendant Joshua Bradley testified Tuesday that he saw Fortney perform such a kick.

Bishopville, MD (AP) – Nine juveniles face charges of malicious destruction of property following an investigation of a B.B. gun spree in northern Worcester County.
A Worcester County Bureau of Investigations probe revealed that the kids used anything from B.B. guns to sling shots to destroy car and home windows.
The crimes occured on Fridays and Saturdays from February into May.
State police and officers in Ocean Pines and Worcester County have taken more than 35 reports of B.B. gun shootings. The has caused more than $15,000 in property damage.

RICHMOND, VA (AP) – Snipers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo will stand trial next in Maryland, where six of the 10 slayings in a murderous spree took place.
That was the determination Tuesday of Governor Mark Warner.
44-year-old Muhammad and 20-year-old Malvo face extradition across the Potomac for additional trials in the ambush shootings that terrorized the Washington, D.C. region in the fall of 2002.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (AP) – A key state witness testified Tuesday that a man on trial for the beating death of a Pasadena teenager bragged about the assault afterwards.
Co-defendant Joshua Bradley was testifying under a plea agreement with prosecutors in the trial of 19-years-old Jacob Fortney. Fortney is charged with manslaughter and related offenses in the death of 17-year-old Jamahl Jones, who died from brain injuries he received during a fight last summer.

WILMINGTON, DE (AP) – A Newark auto dealer group has been ordered to stop advetising that violates Delaware's Consumer Protection Laws.
The dealership operates the Martin Honda, Kia, Olds and Mazda car lots in Newark.
The order from Judge Charles Toliver comes after an undercover investigation conducted by the state Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit.
The state alleges that the auto dealer included false claims in its ads in various Wilmington-area publications.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) – Pretrial motions are set for next week in Hagerstown for a man charged with beating his 3-year-old daughter to death.
Hagerstown police say Scott Patterson killed Madyson King on October 25 after she knocked over a bucket of mop water. Investigators believe Patterson had been smoking marijuana.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) – Searchers have rescued one of two men who were washed overboard from their sailboat, and they have found the body of the other in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean hundreds of miles off the Virginia coast.
Coast Guard officials say Lochlin Reidy of Woodbridge, CT, was found about 4am about 400 miles east of Virginia Beach after a Coast Guard plane saw a strobe light in the ocean.

The second floor of the building on South Governors Avenue will have a kitchen, a workout room, bunks and ofices.
The expansion will cost more than $5,000,000.
Donations are paying part of the cost. Kent County funds and a loan will pay the rest.

STEVENSVILLE, Md. (AP) – The center lane of the westbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is slated to open about three weeks ahead of schedule.
The lane has been closed since January 3, while road crews repaired more than a mile of cracked concrete. The cracks were the result of a botched paving job.
State officials had set a goal of opening the lane by Memorial Day. They said good weather was a factor in allowing them to finish early.
