'08 UMES Winter Commencemt. launches some 239 grads

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Approximately 239 degrees were conferred during the 2008 Winter Commencement at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, launching UMES graduates into the workforce and graduate schools.

The event took place on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10 a.m., in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.

The commencement address was given by Dr. Isaac J. Hayward, one of UMES' many successful alumni. Hayward is the founder and president of a toxicologic pathology consulting business. UMES President Thelma B. Thompson presented him with a presidential medal.

Also during the commencement exercises, an honorary degree was presented to motivational public speaker, Jodi Jones - president, CEO and executive chef of Vitality Gourmet and founder of the Wellness Alliance Network Inc.
