AAA urges motorcycle safety in Md.
UNDATED – AAA Mid-Atlantic is warning both bikers and motorists that they need to be more aware of each other on the road.
Since 1995, the number of motorcycle fatalities in Maryland has more than tripled. 85 motorcyclists were killed in the state last year - a 23-percent jump from 2004. This is happening as the number of registered bikers has recently increased in a relatively short period of time.
AAA urges both bikers and motorists to share the road. Some of the tips for bikers includes, wearing bright or reflective clothing, always wearing protective gear - including your helmet, and taking a rider safety course. Motorists are encouraged to give bikers plenty of room to maneuver, and to be extra cautious on weekends - as more motorcycles are on the road during this time.
