BALTIMORE (AP) — Two long-time supporters of the Baltimore Museum of Art have promised to donate $3 million to pay some costs of the museum's new center for education and creativity.
The museum announced Tuesday the Patricia and Mark Joseph Education Center will open Sunday. The center, which is named after the two donors, will culminate the last phase of the museum's $28 million renovation project.
Half of the couple's gift will help pay the costs of the $4.5 million center. The rest will be used to help fund programs designed to foster connections between the museum and visitors.
The center will feature an interactive gallery of a local artist's project as well as a hands-on art-making studio for visitors.
Joseph says he hopes the gift will attract more Baltimore school kids.
