Brief Synopsis:

In today's program I'll be talking with Maryland Attorney General, Douglas F. Gansler. During his tenure as Attorney General for Maryland, Mr. Gansler has been focusing on a number of crime-related issues, but one area in particular that he has been highlighting, is that of environmental crimes - especially those affecting the Chesapeake Bay, and the role the Eastern Shore can play in helping to restore the Bay's health.

As a result, Mr. Gansler has been taking an audit of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries - in the hopes of gathering the information needed to protect the Bay's health and prosecute polluters. It was also the reason for his visit to Pocomoke City, Maryland on the 25th of June, 2008 - which was the second stop on his statewide tour of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

The Attorney General was also able to stop by to our studios here at WESM, to discuss more of his environmental initiatives - including his desire to see the eventual creation of a power plant fueled by chicken manure - which he believes will not only provide a renewable source of energy but also help to address concerns about what to do with chicken waste on the Eastern Shore.

We'll also talk about some of the other legal issues making headlines in the news, and how they could potentially affect Maryland in general, and the Eastern Shore in particular.
