Brief Synopsis:

In the on-going debate over the state of the health care system in this country, it seems likely that whatever reforms are enacted in Washington, the underlying issues in this debate will continue to be discussed in homes, businesses, and legislatures across the country for the foreseeable future.

In this program, we'll continue my discussion on the issue of healthcare reform, with Mr. Mike Pretl and Dr. Charles Stegman.

Both men live on the Eastern Shore, and have somewhat differing ideas about how to best insure healthcare coverage for the tens of millions of uninsured people living both in Maryland and across the country.

Mike Pretl represents the Baltimore-based group called "Maryland Health Care for All!" - a statewide coalition that's pushing for affordable healthcare - through the creation of an independent, quasi-governmental health insurance pool that would be accountable to its enrollees, providers and the general public.

Also, participating in this discussion is Dr. Charles Stegman. He's a local physician and a member of the group called "Physicians for a National Health Program." His group also seeks comprehensive health care reform, but instead advocates for a universal, single-payer system.
