Brief Synopsis:
In today's program, we're going to hear a discussion about some of the latest accomplishments at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), with its President, Dr. Thelma B. Thompson.
Since its founding in 1886, UMES has undergone changes in its name, governance and expansion of its physical and academic size. The school now features degree programs in a number of subjects - including agriculture, marine and environmental sciences, engineering, aviation, pharmacy, hospitality management and even Professional Golf Management (PGM).
Since her tenure as UMES President began in 2002, Dr. Thompson has played a key role in the university's academic and physical growth. In fact, U.S. News and World Report has ranked the University of Maryland Eastern Shore as one of America's best Historically Black Colleges for several years now.
In this program, WESM General Manager Marva Lovett will talk with Dr. Thompson about those accomplishments and what the President's goals are for the future.
