Brief Synopsis:

But first, we'll talk with General Anthony C. Zinni. He's a distinguished Marine Corps veteran, who's held numerous command and staff assignments around the world - including was Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Central Command. He's also earned 23 military awards for distinguished service and has had plenty of experience lecturing in colleges and serving in diplomatic missions on war-ravaged parts of the world, including Somalia, Pakistan and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Today, General Anthony Zinni, or "Tony" as he's often called, is acting President and Chief Executive Officer of BAE Systems, Inc. -- the wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems, PLC - that employs approximately 55,000 employees in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico and other countries around the world.

Headquartered in Rockville, Maryland - BAE Systems, Inc. is a global company engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced defense, security and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea. In 2008, it generated annual sales in excess of $20 billion.

Tony Zinni also serves as Chairman of the company's Board of Directors and has served as a member of the Board since 2002.

He's recently written a book, co-authored by Tony Koltz, entitled "Leading the Charge: Leadership Lessons from the Battlefield to the Boardroom." In his book, Zinni illustrates how today's leaders need to adapt to the changed reality of the current world in order to win back the confidence of the U.S. public, fix our ailing economy, and restore our standing abroad. My interview with General Zinni was originally recorded on August 13, 2009.

Later in the program, we'll talk with Costa Mantis, the director of a feature film on the subject of "Flying Pumpkins: The Legend of Punkin Chunkin." He documented 20 teams from all walks of life as they descended upon Sussex County, Delaware - to see who would be crowned the world champions of mechanical pumpkin throwing. On November 5, 2009, I had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Mantis about the movie - who was on his cell phone while on location working on his next project in Sacramento, California.
