Old furnace road bridge near Seaford closed

SEAFORD, Del. – (AP) The Delaware Department of Transportation has closed a bridge on Old Furnace Road near Seaford because of several large breaks.

Delaware State Police reported the damaged roadway late Wednesday night. Old Furnace Road is closed between Cokesbury and Rementer roads.

Transportation department spokeswoman Tina Shockley said a bridge inspection is now planned Thursday afternoon.

A detour is available on 529 north to Route 18 to 484 south to 517A south. Delaware transportation officials say some delays should be expected.
