Top chemists to visit UMES research farm

PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Scientists from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will be host to a group of some 50 of the top minds dealing with phosphorus chemistry, from all across the United States and other countries.

The group is known as the SERA-17, and the event will take place this morning at the UMES Research and Teaching Farm.

The two-hour tour of the UMES site represents the culmination of a four-day SERA-17 conference held on Kent Island, which has been exploring ways in which nutrients such as phosphorus from chicken litter can have less of an impact on ground and surface water.
