UMES to be featured on CBS

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – "Eye on America," the CBS series hosted by Greg Gumbel, features the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in an upcoming episode as part of the show's series on "Hidden Gems of Higher Learning."

The new programs are part of the college's commitment to providing access to high quality values-based educational experiences, especially to individuals who are first-generation college students of all races while emphasizing multicultural diversity and international perspectives.

The segment will air on WPXW, the Washington D.C. area's ION Television network affiliate, at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 5; Friday, September 12; Friday, September 19; and Friday, September 26. The station broadcasts on UHF channel 66, with a digital signal on channel 43.

Subsequent broadcasts of the segment will appear on the Fox Business Network and CNN Headline News. It will also air on You Tube and on the UMES website.

Founded in 1886, University of Maryland Eastern Shore boasts one of the most diverse student bodies of the 114 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the United States. Achieving record enrollments of over 4,000 students in the past two years, the latest release of America's Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report ranks UMES in the top tier of historically black colleges.
