Va gets $2.4 million in environmental grants

RICHMOND, VA – (AP) The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation has received $2.4 million in grants for four anti-pollution and environmental education programs related to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Gov. Tim Kaine and other officials announced the grants Monday.

The largest grant, $799,998, will go to the Shenandoah Valley Clean Streams Initiative.

An additional $798,988 will be spent on innovative stormwater management practices from the state Capitol grounds to the James River.

A project to reduce stormwater pollution in the Blacks Run Watershed will receive $325,000, and $500,000 will go to the Chesapeake Club's nonpoint source pollution outreach campaign.
