NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Authorities in Delaware say three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash near Newark.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened Wednesday afternoon on State Route 1. State Police say traffic slowed suddenly because of debris in the roadway but the driver of a Dodge Ram was unable to stop and struck the rear of a BMW. A driver traveling behind the Dodge Ram then struck the Dodge Ram, causing it to flip over.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore school bus driver who died along with five others in a collision with a commuter bus was found at fault in three traffic-related cases in the last eight years, according to civil and criminal court records and an attorney interviewed by The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Glenn R. Chappell, 67, lost a civil case over hitting a parked car in Baltimore in 2008. Nationwide Insurance said in its complaint that Chappell's vehicle "veered from the roadway" and struck the car.

SMYRNA, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a tractor trailer overturned during a crash, spilling chickens onto state Route 1 in Smyrna.

Police said in a statement that two tractor trailers collided early Wednesday in southbound lanes and one overturned. Police say the drivers were not injured, but the chicken trailer spilled its load of chickens.

The roadway was blocked for hours into the morning rush as crews cleared away the overturned trailer and chickens.

LAUREL, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man carjacked a vehicle after a crash involving at least seven vehicles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Media outlets report that U.S. Park Police spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Rose said police believe the crash may be related to a robbery at the Tastee Diner in Laurel early Tuesday.

Laurel spokeswoman Joyce Jackson says three masked men robbed the Tastee Diner in Laurel early Tuesday and fled in a burgundy BMW.

HARTLY, Del. (AP) — Delaware police are investigating a fatal car wreck in Hartly.

Police say the wreck occurred just before 3 p.m. on Thursday on Halltown Road just east of Crystal Road.

Police say 52-year-old Michael Wallace was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and attempting to negotiate a left curve when he lots control and struck a mailbox, then a tree on the driver's side door.

Police say Wallace wasn't wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead on the scene.
