NJ Gov. Christie to attend fundraiser for Hogan

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled to attend a fundraiser this month for Republican Larry Hogan, who is running for governor of Maryland.

Hogan's campaign announced the Sept. 17 fundraiser on Tuesday. It is scheduled to take place in Bethesda in Montgomery County.

Christie, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, is chairman of the Republican Governor's Association.

Hogan, an Anne Arundel County real estate broker, is running against Democratic Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.

Gay Marriage-Fundraiser

O'Malley to join Ravens linebacker at fundraiser

BALTIMORE (AP) — Gov. Martin O'Malley is scheduled to join Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo  for a fundraiser in support of same-sex marriage in Maryland.

The two are set to take part in a Monday Night Football watching party at Mother's Federal Hill Grille Monday night.

Maryland, Maine and Washington are deciding whether same-sex marriage should be legal in November. Minnesota is voting on a constitutional ban.

STUDENTS STEP UP

Maryland students host benefit for classmate

IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Students at a western Maryland high school are raising money to help cover medical costs for a classmate whose left leg was amputated after he was hospitalized with a staph infection.

Urbana High School students, in affiliation with the Southern Frederick County Rotary Club, are hosting a 5K race May 20 to benefit sophomore Chris Bedard.

The run will take place at McKeever Family Farm in Ijamsville.
