An Illinois truck driver has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for firing shots at a vehicle carrying a 2-year-old child on Interstate 83 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

Christian Ramos, 30, was convicted of attempted first-degree murder in April. Maryland State Police said the shooting happened near Shawan Road, where Ramos fired into another vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Investigators found a bullet hole in the vehicle’s passenger-side window and a projectile lodged in the front seat. Although no one was hurt, the incident put everyone inside the vehicle, including the young child, at risk.
