One man was killed and another was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash on Sunrise Boulevard near Florida’s Turnpike in Plantation, Florida, on Saturday afternoon, October 24, according to police. The crash forced the closure of all eastbound lanes and one westbound lane, disrupting traffic in the area.
Plantation police told CBS News Miami that two men were riding a motorcycle when the driver lost control. Investigators said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Sunrise Boulevard between Florida’s Turnpike and Northwest 47th Avenue.
One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle reportedly came to rest about 100 yards from where the victim’s body was found.
Authorities have not released the deceased man’s identity. Officials also have not provided details about the second man’s condition following his transport to a local hospital.

The crash prompted traffic restrictions along Sunrise Boulevard as emergency crews responded to the scene. All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane were shut down, and drivers traveling through the area Saturday evening were advised to use alternate routes.
The closures affected traffic near the Florida’s Turnpike interchange, where motorists were asked to avoid the crash area while authorities handled the incident.
Police have not released additional details about what caused the driver to lose control of the motorcycle. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The identities of both men, along with further information about the hospitalized individual, had not been released in the initial report.
This remains an ongoing investigation. Additional information may become available as authorities release further details.
